Lock it or lose it this holiday season

Thanks to the  Waterloo Regional Police Service they have a video posted to its website educating local residents about safeguarding their vehicles, especially through the holiday season.  Please remember to lock your valuables away out of site this holiday season.

Motor Vehicle Collision - Pedestrian Struck

Motor vehicle Collision – Pedestrian Struck On Sunday December 2, 2012, at 2:35 a.m., a 21-year old Guelph male was walking across Gordon Street south of Wellington Street East when a southbound vehicle that was driven by a 42-year old Guelph male struck him.

The pedestrian was transported by ambulance to the Guelph General Hospital before being airlifted to St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto with serious injuries.

The matter is still under investigation.

Guelph Police Service seeking witnesses in hit and run November 1

Wednesday November 14, 2012

1. UPDATE- Motor Vehicle Collision – Hit and Run- Witnesses Sought A 21-year-old male from Barrie remains in a Hamilton Hospital in stable condition for the treatment of serious injuries he received in a Fail to Remain collision that occurred overnight Halloween night.

On Thursday November 1, 2012 at 2:05 a.m., the male victim was near the bridge on Gordon Street South Guelph coming from the downtown.

Thefts from Athletics Centre

Recently there has been thefts from the change-rooms in the Athletic Centre. All thefts were from unlocked lockers. Please ensure your valuables are always secure. 

Locks are available for sale or rent from the Front Desk.

STOP Theft

If you own a laptop or other piece of important technology, you have legitimate concerns about security.  STOP’s only mission is the protection of your property through a combination of theft prevention, asset management and equipment recovery.

The STOP (Security Tracking of Office Property) program has been successfully implemented at hundreds of Universities across Canada and the United States and is a strong deterrent for potential thieves.

Remembrance Day Service

Remembrance Day Service U of G's annual Remembrance Day service will be held November 9th, 2012.  The service is starting at 10:30 am at War Memorial Hall. Although classes won't be cancelled for the service, the president requests that faculty grant consideration to students who miss some class time to attend the service. Supervisors are encouraged to allow employees to attend as well.

 

 

"Trick or Tweet" event

Mark this Wednesday Oct 31 on your calendars.  Start following us on Twitter at @uofgpolice and join us for our 2nd annual "Trick or Tweet" event.  From 8:00pm until 3:00am, University Police will be utilizing twitter to tweet all calls for service that is processed through our department.  This event is to raise awareness of our departmental social media campaign while engaging our community through this fun and informative evening.
